From Roof To Community: The Rooftop Farm Wimbledon
At Huddle, we’re big believers that workspace should feel connected. Not just to people, but to places. That’s why Huddle Wimbledon being based at Wimbledon Quarter is so special.

Right above us sits something quite brilliant: The Rooftop Farm Wimbledon. A flourishing urban farm that transformed unused rooftop space into a sustainable garden full of seasonal produce, gourmet mushrooms and hyper-local honey.
And it’s not just a nice idea. It’s something our members genuinely get to enjoy.
What Is The Rooftop Farm?

Launched in 2022, The Rooftop Farm was created to turn overlooked urban space into a productive, sustainable ecosystem. Managed by resident farmers James and Oliver, the farm grows an ever-changing array of:
- Microgreens (including radish, leek, rainbow chard)
- Fresh herbs (mint, coriander, parsley and more)
- Seasonal produce (salads, heritage tomatoes, squash, chillies and strawberries – just in time for The Championships, of course)
- Gourmet Oyster mushrooms year-round
Alongside the crops, the farm is home to four beehives housing around 40,000 bees, producing hundreds of jars of Wimbledon honey each year in partnership with BeeUrban, a specialist urban beekeeping organisation.
It’s super local food production, quite literally above our heads.
A Circular Economy in Action

What makes the farm even more impressive is its commitment to sustainability.
The Oyster mushrooms are grown in a specialist grow tent using recycled coffee grounds collected from local cafés and restaurants, including our very own Fire Station Café. With millions of cups of coffee consumed daily in the UK, repurposing coffee waste into nutrient-rich mushroom substrate is a simple but powerful example of circular economy thinking in action.
Waste becomes resource.
Local stays local.
Community benefits.
It’s exactly the kind of forward-thinking approach we champion at Huddle.
How Huddle Collaborates with The Rooftop Farm

Being part of Wimbledon Quarter means this isn’t just a neighbourhood project. It’s part of our community story.
🌱 Seasonal Produce at Our Member Breakfasts
Each month, at our Huddle member breakfasts across our three locations, we share seasonal produce from The Rooftop Farm for members to take away. Completely free of charge.
From herbs to microgreens to whatever’s in season, it’s our way of connecting members to something local and sustainable.
🍯 From Roof to Plate at The Fire Station Café
At our Huddle eatery, The Fire Station Café, we stock Rooftop Farm produce and the incredibly popular Rooftop Farm honey.
The café, located within Wimbledon Quarter and accessed from Huddle Wimbledon and Queen’s Road – makes it easy for members, residents and visitors to buy super-local ingredients grown just a few floors above. The Oyster mushrooms are available exclusively here, alongside seasonal produce when available.
It’s not often you can say your honey travelled by lift.
