Celebrate World Bee Day at Huddle Wimbledon with an Exclusive Rooftop Farm Tour

Join us at Huddle Wimbledon for a unique World Bee Day event on Wednesday 13th May 2026 between 1 – 2pm as we celebrate the incredible importance of bees with a private guided visit to The Rooftop Farm Wimbledon, located on top of Wimbledon Quarter.

Celebrate World Bee Day at Huddle Wimbledon

This special experience offers the chance to step behind the scenes of our exciting urban farm, where sustainability, biodiversity and community come together high above the town centre.

Why We Celebrate World Bee Day

World Bee Day, celebrated annually on 20th May, raises awareness of the vital role bees and other pollinators play in our ecosystems. Bees are responsible for pollinating around a third of the food we eat, helping crops, flowers and plants thrive.

Without bees, food production would be dramatically affected and natural habitats would suffer. World Bee Day is a chance to recognise their importance, protect pollinator habitats and encourage more sustainable ways of living.

Discover The Rooftop Farm Wimbledon

Sitting above Wimbledon Quarter, The Rooftop Farm Wimbledon transformed unused rooftop space into a flourishing urban farm in 2022. Today, it produces a wide range of hyper-local food sold in local restaurants – and The Fire Station Cafe – and creates a greener future for Wimbledon.

The farm grows:

  • Fresh seasonal produce including salads, heritage tomatoes, squash, chillies and Wimbledon strawberries
  • Microgreens such as radish, leek and rainbow chard
  • Fresh herbs including mint, parsley and coriander
  • Gourmet oyster mushrooms grown year-round from recycled coffee grounds (yes- the same ones you get to take away at our monthly breakfasts!)

The farm is also home to four thriving beehives housing around 40,000 bees, producing delicious Wimbledon honey each year.

During the event, you’ll meet James, one of the dedicated farmers behind The Rooftop Farm Wimbledon. James helps manage the rooftop ecosystem, oversees planting and harvesting, and works to ensure the bees and crops continue to thrive throughout the seasons.

He’ll share insights into how the farm operates, how urban farming works in practice and why protecting pollinators has never been more important.
