Why International Coworking Day Matters

International Coworking Day falls on 9th August every year – the anniversary of the day, back in 2010, that coworking pioneer Tony Bacigalupo proposed marking five years since Brad Neuberg first blogged about the idea of coworking in 2005.

What started as a niche experiment for freelancers has grown into a global movement: the UK’s coworking footprint has expanded by around 15% in the past year alone, with millions of people now choosing shared workspaces over the traditional office or the kitchen table.

Since 9th August falls on a Sunday in 2026, we’re bringing the celebrations to Hammersmith on Monday, 10th August instead. The perfect excuse for a midweek pick-me-up.

The Case for Coworking With Friends

There’s real evidence behind the “work is better together” idea:
