A Taste of Korean Food History

Korean cooking is built on centuries of fermentation; kimchi, gochujang and soy sauce all trace back thousands of years, developed long before chilli peppers even arrived in Korea (they only turned up around 500 years ago, which is why old-style kimchi wasn’t spicy at all).

Snacking has its own long tradition too: from roadside stalls selling roasted sweet potatoes and fish cakes to today’s convenience store shelves, grabbing something tasty between tasks is practically a Korean institution, so this giveaway is very much in keeping with the culture behind it.
